Sign up for budget billing

Most of us have higher electric bills during the summer and winter months and lower bills in the spring and fall. These fluctuations can make budgeting difficult, so many Cedarburg Light & Water customers have elected to take advantage of the budget billing program.

Cedarburg Light & Water’s budget billing program allows you to “even out” your energy costs over the course of a year through a fixed payment each month. With this payment plan, you will not experience high bill surprises in the months you use the most electricity and your budget is easier to manage.

Our “budget year” spans from May through the following April. When you sign up for budget billing, we will forecast what we believe your average monthly electric (and water/sewer if applicable) bill will be from the time you apply, through April. The target will be to set your budget amount so your balance in April is as close to zero as possible.

It is important to note that establishing a budget billing does not reduce your overall bills. As a matter of fact, it remains important for you to look at your monthly electric (and water/sewer) usage if you are concerned about conserving energy and water and tracking the actual amount of your bills. The main, and obvious benefit of the budget plan, is to provide a fixed monthly amount you can count on for budgeting and financial purposes.

Once you are on the budget plan, your payments must be made by the due date each month. Payments cannot be missed, or the budget plan no longer works as intended, and you will be required to pay the actual amount due. With this in mind, we strongly recommend that your bills be paid automatically through our electronic bill payment program. Click on the links below under STEP 1 to sign up for budget billing and under STEP 2 to sign up for electronic bill payment.

Qualifying is Easy

STEP 1: To set up your account on the budget plan, you may either call our office at (262) 375-7650, email Lisa Gall, or complete the online form below. It is ideal if you already have at least 12 months historical information at the current location before signing up for budget billing. With 12 months of historical information, we are best able to calculate an accurate budget amount.
